Katie Lopez-Harris was born and raised in Acadia Parish and a 2003 graduate of Iota High School. She attended Northwestern State University, obtaining a bachelor's degree in Journalism with a concentration in broadcast. Katie moved to McAllen, Texas in 2009 to work along the U.S./Mexico border. In 2013, she and her husband welcomed a little girl, Harper, and Katie decided it was time to move back home to be closer to family.

After taking 18 months off, she went back into broadcasting as a reporter on Good Morning Acadiana at KATC-TV3.

In 2018, Katie became the main anchor on GMA. In her time at KATC she has reported on numerous stories surrounding the loss of a child. Being asked to help with the Rescue group has been an amazing experience--one she hopes to continue in years to come.

Katie is married to Lee Harris, has two beautiful daughters, Harper and Analice, and a four-legged son, a Boston Terrier named Ralph.
