Katie’s 24-year nursing career has afforded her the unique opportunity to care for people of all ages, celebrating life’s joys and enduring the struggle of trauma, loss, and a spectrum of psychiatric conditions. As a family psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, she strives to meet the mental and behavioral health needs of patients and families in Acadiana, working in out-patient and in-patient settings in three parishes. She remains actively involved in Hospice of Acadiana’s Camp Brave Hearts as well as suicide and injury prevention programs throughout the state, such as the Sudden Impact program. In addition, Katie contributes to the future of the nursing profession as an adjunct professor for the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner program at Nicholls State University.
Academic background includes:
- Graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (currently University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Graduated from Nicholls State University with a Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric- Mental Health Nurse Practitioner concentration in May 2019.
- ANCC Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Louisiana State Board of Nursing Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Katie is married to Seth Porche, and together they have four active children. Making a difference is her guiding principle. She is honored to serve on the board of The RescYou Group.
